How effective is social marketing in effecting social change?

In a recent workshop, I was asked just how much of a difference can be made with a social marketing campaign. Can social marketing really get people to change their behaviour?

In my opinion, the answer is… on its own, no, it can’t.

Butts out the window

As someone working towards improving the health of Canadians and our environment, one of my greatest frustrations is seeing people throw their cigarette butts out their car windows. First, they pollute their bodies, then they pollute the environment.
